Our Story

Meals That Heal was founded on a simple observation: while some communities have food abundance and others face food insecurity, logistics technology exists to bridge this gap. Our founders recognized that the problem isn't a lack of food—it's a lack of systems to connect supply with demand efficiently.

Starting in 2023 in Detroit, Maine, we began with a pilot program connecting local restaurants, grocery stores, and food distributors with churches and community organizations. Within months, we rescued thousands of pounds of food that would have gone to waste, serving hundreds of families and reducing carbon emissions equivalent to thousands of miles of vehicle travel.

What makes us different is our approach. We don't just collect and distribute food—we optimize every aspect of the logistics chain using real-time data, volunteer coordination, and community partnerships. Our platform enables churches to request food based on immediate community needs, donors to contribute consistent supplies, and volunteers to participate in meaningful service.

Today, Meals That Heal operates across multiple communities, partnering with 150+ organizations, coordinating 5,200+ volunteers, and rescuing over 2 million pounds of nutritious food annually. We've delivered nearly 45,000 meals to families in need while preventing 18,900 tons of CO₂ emissions.

Our vision is to scale this model nationally, creating a nationwide network of intelligent food logistics that eliminates food waste while feeding hungry families. We believe this is not just a hunger solution—it's an environmental solution, an economic solution, and a community solution all in one.
